Pathway 5: FOR Australian REGISTERED Architects

If you are currently registered in Australia, you are entitled to registration in New Zealand as of right, in accordance with the Trans-Tasman Mutual Recognition Act 1997.

No assessment is involved and there is no fee for processing your application. However, you will need to provide proof of your state or territory current registration. You can apply at any time.

  • the information and documentation you need to provide
  • the application fee you need to pay and how to pay it
  • how to format and send your application document to NZRAB.

A registered architect who, for the purpose of obtaining registration, provides orally or in writing makes any declaration or representation knowing it to be false or misleading, or provides any document knowing that it was not genuine, is subject to disciplinary penalties by the NZRAB under section 25 of the Registered Architects Act 2005.

If you are not currently registered (e.g. Non-practising) then you are not eligible to apply via this pathway.
